Fort Lauderdale Realtor® Takes Office As President-Elect of Florida's Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 31, 2011 – Summer Greene, regional manager with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Florida 1st in Fort Lauderdale, has been installed as the 2011 president-elect of Florida Realtors®, the state's largest professional association with more than 115,000 members.

"We face many challenges in today's real estate market, but there is still strong worldwide demand for Florida homes and investment properties," says Greene, who is active in residential and commercial brokerage and holds the Certified Residential Broker (CRB) designation.

A leader in local, state and national real estate organizations, Greene is a former president of the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale and has chaired and served on numerous committees since 1994. In 2003, she was honored as her local association's "Realtor of the Year." In the community, she has been a board member for Reliance Housing Development.

On the state level, Greene served Florida Realtors as secretary in 2008, treasurer in 2009 and vice president in 2010. A director since 2001, she has been active on numerous committees, subcommittees and forums. Greene has also been a director of the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) since 2001, and serves on the Professional Standards and MLS [multiple listing service] Issues & Policies committees.

As president-elect for the state association, Greene will focus on enhancing Florida Realtors' services and support for real estate professionals. "I see opportunities for real estate professionals to leverage social media and networking to communicate with others," she says. "Real estate success is all about relationships."

Greene adds that Realtors must continue to be leaders in their Florida communities. "Whenever new challenges arise - like last summer's BP oil spill in the Panhandle - we're there to lend a hand," she says. "We will continue to work with our legislators to ease the burdens on consumers in the housing sector."

Florida Realtors®, formerly known as the Florida Association of Realtors®, serves as the voice for real estate in Florida. It provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its 115,000 members in 65 boards/associations.
