Sarasota Realtor® Installed As District Vice President of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla., January 2010 – Judy R. Schomaker, broker, REMAX Platinum Realty in Sarasota, has been installed as District 13 vice president of Florida Realtors®, the state’s largest professional association. A member of the Sarasota Association of Realtors and Manatee Association of Realtors, Schomaker will serve her fellow professionals in District 13, which encompasses Manatee, Hardee, Sarasota, DeSoto and Charlotte counties.

“With low home prices, stable interest rates and the extension of the federal tax credit for buyers, we expect strong sales activity this year in our district’s real estate market,” says Schomaker, who is active in residential and commercial brokerage, as well as property management. Her specialty is international and second-home resort properties.

A leader in regional, state and national real estate organizations, Schomaker was 2005 president of the Sarasota association, and served as 2009 chair of the Manatee association’s International Local Council. She is active in Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), and was president of the local chapter in 2001. On the state level, Schomaker has been a director since 2002 and chaired several committees and councils relating to international real estate. She is a graduate of the inaugural Leadership Academy in 2008. In addition, Schomaker served as a director of the National Association of Realtors in 2005, and was the president’s liaison to Spain in 2006 and also for 2010. She was named 2008 NAR President’s Liaison of the Year.

In the community, Schomaker has been a trustee for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, member of the Small Business Council and the International Business Council. She served on the board of the Historic Alliance and Players Theater, and was a leader for more than 18 years in Boy Scouts of America’s St. Louis and Sarasota Councils.

As district vice president of the state association, Schomaker’s priorities include enhancing awareness of the benefits offered by Florida Realtors®. “Our association has an extensive array of tools to help real estate professionals build their businesses, while assisting homebuyers and sellers in achieving their personal dreams,” she says.

Florida Realtors®, formerly known as the Florida Association of Realtors®, serves as the voice for real estate in Florida.
