Jacksonville Realtor Takes Office as 2007 Treasurer
of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla., January 2007 – Wendell Davis, a broker and regional vice president with Watson Realty Corp. in Jacksonville, has been installed as the 2007 Treasurer of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 165,000 members.

A member of the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors, Davis has served the local organization in numerous capacities, including chairing many committees and as president in 1996. On the state level, he served FAR as secretary in 2005, as a district vice president in 1998. He also has chaired or served on many committees for FAR, including as chairman of the Finance Committee in 2005. On the national level, Davis has served as a director and delegate for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR).

In the community, Davis was the national treasurer for the National Association of Residential Property Managers in 2004 and president of the Florida Association of Residential Property Managers for 2003-2004. He has been active with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, March of Dimes, YMCA and the Wesley Woods Adult Retirement Center. He served on the Clay County Transportation Advisory Council from 2003-2005, chairing the council in 2004.

Looking ahead to the coming year, Davis says it is important to encourage Realtors to become involved in community concerns and participate in public policy efforts, particularly when it comes to property insurance and property tax reform. “We must encourage member involvement financially and at the grassroots level,” he says. “When the laws change, it has an impact on our business, so we need to stay proactive and let Florida Realtors know what and why, so they’ll support the effort. I was a [football] coach for 23 years and I know that when the team clearly understands the goals and agrees with you, then you can make progress.”

The Florida Association of Realtors®, the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, ongoing education, research and legislative representation to its 170,000 members in 68 local boards/associations throughout the state.
