Cooper City Realtor Takes Office as President-Elect of Florida’s Largest Professional Association

ORLANDO, Fla., January 2007 -- Charles J. “Chuck” Bonfiglio, broker-owner with Century 21 AAA Realty Inc. in Cooper City, has been installed as 2007 President-elect of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 165,000 members.

Bonfiglio is a member of the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale. He has served his local association in numerous capacities, serving on most committees and chairing several of those committees. In 2004, he was president of the local organization. He has also received outstanding service awards from both the Fort Lauderdale association and the former Hollywood Board of Realtors. On the state level, Bonfiglio served FAR as treasurer in 2005, as a district vice president in 1991, and has chaired a number of committees for the state association, including most recently as chair of its Local Board/Association Presidents Forum. For most of the past 10 years, he has served as a director for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and was a member of NAR’s Business Issues and Public Policy Coordinating Committees in 2006.

Bonfiglio has been active in a number of community, social and civic organizations, including the Broward Business Club, Broward County Crime Stoppers and Easter Seals South Florida. He has served on the Town of Davie Boys and Girls Club and on the Broward County Zoning Board. In 2003 and 2004, he was named Easter Seals Broward County Humanitarian of the Year. FAR recognized Bonfiglio as a
co-recipient of its Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2006.

Reflecting on what lies ahead for the real estate industry, Bonfiglio says that insurance and property tax reform continue to be a major issue. “We need to finally decide who is going to take on catastrophe insurance, and find ways to make it happen,” he says. “One issue I have a passion for is encouraging involvement and combating apathy – looking for ways that we can reach out to members and invite them to be a part of their state Association.”

The Florida Association of Realtors®, the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, ongoing education, research and legislative representation to its 170,000 members in 68 local boards/associations throughout the state.
