BOCA RATON, Fla. – Talk to Timothy M. Kinzler, CEO and team leader of Keller Williams Realty in Boca Raton, for just a few minutes and you’re ready to conquer the world. Kinzler has a unique energy that attracts others and gets them motivated to succeed.
“People need to know how much you care before they care how much you know,” says Kinzler. “I was always taught to be professional, personal, productive and profitable with passion.”
This passion drives his business. Count him among those rare leaders who truly want other people to succeed. “I want others to discover their potential and unleash it,” he says. “In my office I have a blank wall. I invite the agents whom we’re considering associating with to paint a picture on that wall. I want them to draw their dreams and goals.”
His talent for motivating others is one of the reasons he was named Florida Realtors’ Realtor® Associate of the Year in both 1991 and 2001. In Keller Williams, Kinzler found a company that mirrored his basic business philosophy. “Their mission statement, ‘A career worth having, a business worth owning and a life worth living,’ perfectly mirrors what my wife and I believe,” he says.
Now Kinzler serves as the CEO for the Keller Williams Realty International East Boca Raton market center. “We have 80 associates, growing it from 48 when I arrived in June 2011.” Kinzler’s role is to recruit, train and help the agents be productive, profitable and professional.
He says he does that by “taking time to listen and to care about who they are, and who they want to be.” That may sound easy, but it takes a special person to truly be interested in others and want to help build their success.
Kinzler lives that philosophy outside the office as well. “My personal life is a mirror of my professional life,” he explains. “I love to discover and explore. My father always had a camera in his hand, and those who know me know I love photography.”
He’s also an early adopter of technology. “IBM had moved to Boca Raton to develop and manufacture the PC. Many of my clients were IBM engineers,” he says. Working with these clients spurred an “addiction to technology that has become my passion,” he says.
Overall, Kinzler says he owes his success to the fact that, “I care about people. My personal life is about interacting with people around the world to discover their passions and learn from them.”
"Surround yourself with greatness and allow the lessons in life to humble you."
To him, success “is not defined by the amount of money in the bank but by the completeness of life.”
For Kinzler, it all boils down to this: To be successful in both business and in life, you must do three things: have integrity, always know that customers come first and know your numbers.
Kinzler is as passionate about his profession as he is about helping others to succeed. He is a two-time winner of Florida Realtors® Associate Realtor of the Year – in 1991 and 2001 – an award given in recognition of an individual’s contributions to their local Realtor organization, community, the state Realtor association and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). Kinzler also has taken additional education courses to enhance his knowledge and expertise, earning the professional designation of Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) and Certified Residential Specialist (CRS). He is active with the Women’s Council of Realtors as well.
