Bill Furst, Secretary

ORLANDO, Fla. – Matey H. Veissi, broker-owner, Veissi & Associates in Miami, is the 2012 secretary of Florida Realtors®, the state’s largest professional association with more than 115,000 members.

“Our state is still a highly desired place to live on both a national and international level,” says Veissi, who is active in residential and commercial brokerage. “The next year should bring an increase pace of sales transactions, since there is strong demand from buyers and many owners are ready to sell their homes.”

A leader in regional, state and national real estate organizations, Veissi has chaired virtually every committee in Miami Realtors®, her local association and was named Realtor of the Year in 1996. She was the creator and charter member of the association’s International Council and a founding member of its Honor Society. She received a lifetime achievement award in 2005.

Veissi has been a director and district vice president of the state association, and served as chairperson of the Florida Real Estate Commission in 2003. Veissi has served as chair of the National Association of Realtors® Global Business and Alliances Committee, and NAR presidential liaison to the real estate associations of Jamaica and The Bahamas.

She is a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR), Master Brokers Forum, Camillus House for the Homeless, Habitat for Humanity, youth athletics, YMCA and March of Dimes.

As secretary for the state association, Veissi will focus on enhancing Florida Realtors® educational services, business support and advocacy programs for real estate professionals. “Advocacy is vitally important this year, considering the current legislative environment on the state and national levels,” she says. “We must be active leaders in our local communities, in Tallahassee and in Washington, DC.”

Florida Realtors®, formerly known as the Florida Association of Realtors®, serves as the voice for real estate in Florida. It provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its 115,000 members in 63 boards/associations.
