You already know the marketing advantages of getting your name and listings out on the Net. But did you know you could also sell advertising on your blog – and add to your revenue stream?
Cha-ching! Blogs are moneymakers
Great content, as you know, brings all kinds of visitors, including potential customers, to your site. If you provide great content, people will visit your site repeatedly because you offer them a great service — information on topics of interest to them. Get it right and your search engine ranking will improve also.
The result of this winning combination of great content and technology support, if you haven’t already guessed, is that advertisers take notice of these analytics – and they are looking for a piece of the action, according to Bernice Ross, national speaker and CEO of www.Realestatecoach.com.
To see how blogs and e-newsletters target specific audiences and draw the attention of deep-pocketed advertisers, Ross suggests checking out www.curbed.com and www.dailycandy.com.
Curbed, she says, is essentially a traditional blog where visitors comment about the posts. According to its literature, Curbed has “established itself as the center of the virtual conversation about real estate in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and beyond. You’ll find posts about sales and rental prices, celebrity deals, new developments, amusing broker stories, hot restaurants and the latest neighborhood gossip.”
Dailycandy is a free daily email newsletter, online catalog store and Web site, branding itself as the “ultimate insider’s guide to what’s hot, new and undiscovered.” Advertisers get a piece of the action on individual pages that are delivered to these very targeted audiences. How does this happen? Simply speaking, this is a subscriber based free service. And chances are if you sign up for it, you are already in the market for something offered on the site.
As these new business models continue to expand, even more opportunities will be available to the savvy agent or broker who embraces these new technologies, Ross says. “You may not be able to pull in Mercedes as an advertising account, but you may be able to have a local car dealer sponsor your blog,” she adds.
