Cooper City Realtor Takes Office as President of Florida’s Largest Professional Association
ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 4, 2008 -- Charles J. “Chuck” Bonfiglio, broker-owner with Century 21 AAA Realty Inc. in Cooper City, has been installed as 2008 president of the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR), the state’s largest professional association with more than 150,000 members.
A member of the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale, Bonfiglio has served in numerous capacities, including 2004 president. He has also received outstanding service awards from both the Fort Lauderdale association and the former Hollywood Board of Realtors. On the state level, Bonfiglio served FAR as secretary, treasurer, and district vice president, and has chaired a number of committees through the years. He has also served as a director for the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and was a member of NAR’s Business Issues and Public Policy Coordinating Committees in 2006.
Bonfiglio has been active in many community organizations, including Broward Business Club, Broward County Crime Stoppers and Easter Seals South Florida. He has served on the Town of Davie Boys and Girls Club and on the Broward County Zoning Board. He was twice named Easter Seals Broward County Humanitarian of the Year, and FAR recognized Bonfiglio as a co-recipient of its Humanitarian of the Year Award for 2006.
In his new leadership role at FAR, Bonfiglio will focus on helping to build a nationwide coalition for natural disaster insurance. “Every state has issues with natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tornados and fires,” he says. “My goal is to build a coalition of fellow state Association presidents to work with legislators on this issue.
In addition, Bonfiglio plans to work with the state Legislature on issues relating to property tax reform and subprime mortgage loans. “We need to put a program in place to help people refinance their loans,” he says, “now that national market conditions have changed.”
Bonfiglio is also a proponent of the new FAR Leadership Academy, which will provide additional training and education to the state’s Realtors. “The academy would provide prospective leaders on the local, state and national levels – even those wanting to run for public office – with training to help them succeed,” he says.
The Florida Association of Realtors, the voice for real estate in Florida, provides programs, services, continuing education, research and legislative representation to its 150,000 members in 67 boards/associations. FAR's Media Center Web site is available at http://media.floridarealtors.org.
